Come join us on Saturday, February 23rd from 1-4 p.m. as we celebrate our 1st anniversary at the Elkhart County Historical Museum in Bristol. Each city in Elkhart County will be represented by a PossePop that salutes that town's history.
A mini version of cupcake wars are coming to Bristol Elementary on Monday, May 21st! We are so excited to have a bakery out of Fort Wayne called Vanilla Bean Unnique Cookies and Cupcakes come to our school for an assembly Monday morning. Philanthropy students had an opportunity to tour their shop on Saturday and sample some of their delicious treats. After the cupcake war on Monday, the kids will be going to Stone Soup Emporium to put their newest Posse Pop up against Stone Soup's Bonnie Bakes and the Athena cupcake from Vanilla Bean. After this visit, the group will be heading to Lucchese's Italian Restaurant for a scrumptious salad buffet. Camille's Floral of Bristol will also be joining us for the festivities. This event is intended to bring attention to the No Kid Hungry campaign and the Great American Bake Sale. Philanthropy students have already raised $71.85 from the donations they received from Lemonade Day. During our weekly Thursday meeting, we had several special guests including: Mr. Meyers (our chocolate guru), Mr. Guzman (Bonnie and Clyde's Soda Shop), Chef Lucchese (Lucchese's Restaurant), Principal Jennette, and Ms. Weaver (Elkhart Truth Reporter). A follow-up interview will take place next week with photos. The Truth will be running the article in the education section with a date yet to be determined. I will post the date once I receive confirmation and also a link to the article on the homepage. Emily also brought in cake pops that she made out of clay to go along with our display. These were a big hit with the community members at the meeting! The charms she created may be another fundraiser for us in the future. Thanks Emily! The group also decided on a new price for the pops (download the menu to find out). Those pops sold at the school for Bristol students only will be at a discounted price. This Saturday, 2-11-12, we will be having a big Posse Pop production day at the school. We will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at midnight (okay, maybe not midnight, but as long as it takes!). Food will be served to those volunteering. Go to the front of the school to enter. If the doors are locked, call Miss F. on her cell and someone will let you in (we will have her number posted on the front door). If you are attending and haven't let us know, please RSVP as soon as possible. It is going to be a busy and fun work day! Check out the February edition as it features Philanthropy and the Posse Pops! As soon as they publish online, I will include the link. Be sure to check out the article on the Elkhart Wins! website about the Posse Pops. There is a link on our homepage. We showed the first video commercial this morning on Valentine's Posse Pops! The response has been great! The student body will be preordering Wednesday-- can't wait to see how many orders we get! Great job everyone! I also uploaded a copy of the Valentine's menu on the homepage and included a link to the 22 WSBT article and video. We went to Lucchese's today after school to start our production! Chef Zach allowed us to use his kitchen to start our production line. Amber, one of Lucchese's kitchen managers, helped us make the cake batter. We were able to get a few pops together to sample. Wow! They looked great and tasted even better! We can't wait to go back next Thursday for our big production day! Thank you Lucchese's for helping us with this project! We filmed our first commercial today. Matt and Hunter starred in the commercial and Emily helped film the commercial. Mrs. Spaeth made a guest appearence. We had a lot of fun! We would like to post the commercial online, but we are not sure if the school corporation would allow that. We will have to find out. After filming the commercial, we had a chance to go to Pay 'n Pak to go shopping for baking supplies. We filled a cart full of cake mixes, frosting, and cooking oil. We go to Lucchese's tomorrow to start making our our pops. We can't wait! | Welcome! We are glad you are here! ArchivesMay 2012 Categories |
